5 Things During The Pandemic

1. Get a Tamagotchi

I recently downloaded an app version of those keychain tamagotchi toys from back in the day. There’s just something about having to feed, bathe, and attend to a cute little digital creature that brings some semblance of structure and order to the day.

2. Binge watch something easy

Like Rue said, “I don’t want a novel or some slow burn or anything that feels like work.” In the past 3 months I’ve watched every season of Hanging With Mr. Cooper, Full House, Fuller House, That 70s Show, Outer Banks, Superstore, The Bold Type, and finished season 2 of Charmed (2019). I also watched Soul Food, two Mary Kate and Ashley movies, and that god awful Rebel Wilson rom-com. Simple, corny shit that makes you feel good and numb.

3. Fall in love again

Being stuck inside can make life feel like it's lacking  a d v e n t u r e. Remember that love can be an adventure too. Focus on leaning into bonds that bring you peace and releasing bonds that have brought you chaos.

4. Disconnect

When it turns out that even a pandemic won’t stop this country from murdering your people, take a break from the collective pain and grief on social media.

5. Reconnect

Find ways to safely reconnect with the outside world; sit out on the fire escape, walk to the supermarket, rent a bike and ride around the neighborhood.
